About Sanford, FL
Sanford is the county seat of Seminole County, with a population of about 61,000 as of the 2020 Census. The city sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe, one of the largest lakes in Seminole County, and its northern waterfront is one of the most recognizable landmarks for anyone who lives or works here. The downtown core along First Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with preserved 19th-century commercial storefronts and brick streets that draw visitors and give the city a character distinct from the generic suburban sprawl found elsewhere in the Orlando metro.
The city's housing stock breaks into two broad groups. The neighborhoods closest to downtown, including areas like Goldsboro and the historic residential streets off Park Avenue, contain homes built between the 1890s and 1950s, many of them wood-frame or early concrete block construction on foundations that have never been updated. Farther out, western and southern Sanford was developed largely in the 1990s and 2000s with concrete block subdivisions, typically 1,500 to 2,500 square foot homes with standard slab foundations and stucco exteriors. Orlando Sanford International Airport anchors the city's eastern edge and supports a significant employment base in logistics and charter travel.
South of Sanford, the city transitions toward Deltona, FL, a fast-growing community in Volusia County that shares many of the same soil and drainage characteristics. To the west along I-4, the corridor runs through Altamonte Springs, FL, another Seminole County city where our crew works regularly. These nearby areas are all within our service territory, so a single contractor handles projects across this stretch of Central Florida.
